Casa do Vilar, situated within an old farm of the Penha mountain, had been uninhabited for some years and displayed evident signs of degradation, a result of the passage of time and the inadequate alterations and maintenance work.
Both the building and the surrounding spaces lacked a sense of unity, which our proposal aimed to establish through the redesign of balcony railings, the addition of a new arcade, the incorporation of semi-circular coverings at the entrances, and construction of a new staircase to make circulation more fluid. These new metalwork elements are intended to harmonize with the existing arches in the garden and the old grilles of the windows and shutters.
